Although I have painted a few male ebony jewelwings, this is the first female that I’ve painted. They have more subtle coloration than the males, lacking the intense metallic green. Instead, they have more bronze tones with a touch of bright greens. These charming damselflies have white stigmata on their wings that are absent in the males. It’s always fun to take a little time out of your hike through the woods to watch these critters munching away on mosquitoes.
