Here is a sketch of another timber rattler from our trip to Tennessee. This guy was only two feet from the one in the previous rattlesnake drawing. While both snakes were on the small size, this one was a bit “beefier.” I guess they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think they are fascinating and gorgeous creatures.
I’ve been lucky and over the years have come across some great venomous snakes. I’ve seen cottonmouths, timber rattlers, pygmy rattlers, Massasagua rattlesnakes and eastern diamond backs…now I want to see a copperhead! Somehow I’ve missed those.
