Winters in Michigan can be pretty slow for birding. Although we don’t see much variety, our feeders do tend to explode with familiar faces. One of the welcome sights is the stream of downy woodpeckers at the suet feeders. There was one female that kept visiting our bird bath to drink, which seemed to me to be unusual… although not as strange as the garter snake that climbed up and went up for a “cool one” this summer.

Wow! You really capture the spirit of the things you paint and draw! Love your woodpeckers and chickadees especially. The burrowing owl painting is very nice, it just doesn’t show how small the little guys are! Thanks for sharing your talent and interest in wildlife!

Thanks!
