Spring is a great time for many reasons. The choruses of singing frogs are one of best. Hearing the mating frogs calling from the vernal ponds near our house is a welcome sign that the warm weather is on its way. Wood frogs are one of the earliest breeders. I’ve heard them calling from water that still had ice on the edges. They are highly adapted to cold climates and are even capable of surviving being frozen solid! These bandit-masked wood frogs have a fun quack-like call.
