Few things are as cheery as the American goldfinch. Their friendly call and rollercoaster-like flight add to their obvious visual appeal. We have an almost constant stream of them at the thistle feeders. They like to nest in the blackberry bushes and shrubby growth in the field nearby.

I enjoy your sketches and paintings. Well, most of them … until I acidentally stopped by to view some sort of bug. Not my kinda’ likin! Birds, I can handle but bugs … well, they bug me. Anyhow, hey, do you think you could pencil sketch and then paint an Oriole. They are beautiful. You have an awesome talent. Sure wish I could be half as good.

Insects and spiders aren’t for everyone. To my eye most all have a beauty about them and they can be downright fascinating. The birds seem to have a more universal appeal.
