I love hearing these charming birds in the summer, and remembering their call is easy because my daughter taught me a clever little mnemonic she learned from Larkwire: “Sit, sit, sit… it’s breeeee-zy.” That works for me!
I got the photos for this bird while looking for a Nelson’s Sparrow at Bunker Nature Preserve. I hope to have a painting of that Nelson’s before too long. That location can be absolutely full of ticks in the spring, so I hope these Savannah Sparrows are doing their part to keep them in check!
